From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners parties.
